PRESS RELEASE – ARMCG CHOSEN AS ARCHITECT/ENGINEER FOR ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITIES DEPARTMENT CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER PROJECT

The Athens-based engineering/architecture/construction management firm, Armentrout Roebuck Matheny Consulting Group, P.C. (ARMCG), was selected by the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government to provide the architectural and engineering services for new Customer Service Center  (CSC) for the Public Utilities Department.  The new building will serve as the headquarters for the growing department providing space for customer services, computer operations, and administrative and technical personnel office areas.  The project will also be the first Athens-Clarke County project to pursue LEED certification as a “green” building under the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification guidelines.

ARMCG principal architect, David W. Matheny, AIA, said, “We are very pleased that Athens-Clarke County selected our firm to design this important project.  The facility will serve as a public focal point for the Department and one of our goals will be to create a pleasing environment for both the staff and their customers.  As a “green” building it will have several features that will set it apart from an ordinary office building such as environmentally sensitive site development, very energy efficient heating/ventilation/air conditioning systems, and renewable building materials.”

ARMCG will provide site evaluation services for the project and assist the government in the final site selection and acquisition.
