David M. Roebuck of the Athens-based engineering / architectural / construction management firm, Armentrout Roebuck Matheny Consulting Group, P.C. was appointed to the national Board of Governors of the Construction Manager Certification Institute, Construction Management Association of America's (CMAA) certification body.  Roebuck, a professional engineer, obtained the status of Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through the organization in 1996.  Currently, there are only 140 individuals who are certified construction managers in the United States.

The Board of Governors consists of nine members that provide oversight and direction to the management of the organization.   The CMAA Certifications Program exists to improve the professionalism of construction management by setting standards and professional development goals.  The Board meets semi-annually in conjunction with the CMAA Annual Conference and reviews the qualifications of applicants for candidate status in the CCM program.  Once approved the candidate must complete a course on the Construction Management Body of Knowledge and then pass a 6-hour written examination on the principles and practices of construction management before becoming certified.  Once certified the individual must maintain their knowledge through mandatory continuing education. Roebuck will serve on the Board for a term of 3 years.
