Charles S. Armentrout, P.E.
Vice-President/Secretary
Charlie is the Vice President of Armentrout Matheny Thurmond, P.C. and a civil/ environmental engineer specializing in the design of municipal utilities and hazardous material management. His thirty years of professional practice includes the planning, design and construction inspection of over 200 wastewater and water treatment facilities; over 200 storm water drainage projects and several hundred miles of road/ highway projects.
He has performed in excess of 250 Environmental Site Assessments and site abatement/remediation associated with asbestos, lead, underground storage tanks, and hazardous waste. During his career, he has directed the management of wetland identification and mediation on commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential developments. His experience also includes the design of large culverts, management of structural repair work to bridges, and bridge crossings for utilities. Charlie has managed the design and monitoring of several municipal landfills and has extensive experience in their construction and operations. He has developed designs for recycling facilities, transfer stations, and groundwater monitoring facilities. Charlie stays current on changes in the practice of civil and environmental engineering and holds two specialty registrations, one in solid waste management and a second one in water and wastewater treatment practices. He regularly attends continuing education workshops on environmental design issues such as landfills, asbestos abatement, lead management, latest drinking water & wastewater treatment regulations, etc.

David W. Matheny, A.I.A.
Vice-President
David has practiced architecture for 21 years and is one of the Principals of Armentrout Matheny Thurmond, P.C. Prior to joining the company, he was the Senior Architect with the office of Campus Planning at the University of Georgia. Previous experience includes working with Bickel-Gibson Architects in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a Project Architect and Project Manager, David's experience includes a variety of building types such as teaching and research laboratories, animal laboratories, office buildings, classroom buildings, recreational facilities, performing arts center, museums, renovations of historical buildings for adaptive reuse.
His practice has involved programming, planning studies, interior design, schematic designs and working drawings for medical facilities, personal care homes, condominium and apartment complexes, renovation and adaptive reuse of downtown buildings for retail and residential use, veterinary clinics, office buildings, retail shopping centers, churches, and private residences. David is well versed in the design/build method of construction, with numerous successful projects in recent years.

M. Bret Thurmond, P.E.
President
Bret is a registered professional engineer in 3 states and President of Armentrout Matheny Thurmond, P.C. His 24years of professional practice includes founding and operating the company Electrostatic Spraying Systems.
Bret provides civil and industrial engineering as well as team leadership to the development and engineering projects at the firm. Combining his engineering expertise with business experience, Mr. Thurmond ensures designs are financial as well as technical successes. He has considerable knowledge in the field of surveying and topography, hydrology, storm water management. He manages our in-house survey team and guides project site designs to maintain the standard of excellence.

Lisa G. Jennings, Assoc. Architect
Staff Project Manager, LEED AP
Ms. Jennings is a graduate of Clemson University and has more than eighteen years of professional experience as a project manager and associate architect. Her experience in the design and production of construction drawings has included a wide variety of projects ranging from schools, commercial buildings, churches and historic renovations to single and multi-family residences.
Ms. Jennings provides architectural design, complete project development and a thorough understanding of the building codes to the office. Combining architectural and construction expertise with her knowledge and experience in the building codes, Ms. Jennings ensures all projects are well thought out and meet all required building and life safety standards.

William W. Townes, VI
Assoc. AIA, LEED AP
Mr. Townes is a graduate of Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies, with a Master’s of Architecture. He has 15 years of experience in design and construction. Will has worked as a laborer, carpenter, superintendent, estimator, project manager, and designer. His experience includes residential design and construction, design-build projects, restaurant design, historic preservation, passive solar, geothermal, and daylight strategies. He is proficient in Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite software, estimating & scheduling software, and Sketch-up.

Ellen Rodgers, EIT
Design Engineer
Ms. Rodgers is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Agricultural Engineering program with 7 years of professional experience. Her experience includes residential, commercial, and municipal civil site design. She is proficient in CAD drafting, spreadsheet and database analysis.
She has experience in storm water drainage analysis and design for a variety of site contexts and soil erosion and sediment control design. Ms. Rodgers’ design experience includes assisting in public sewage treatment facility design, developing a watershed monitoring plan, designing public water system improvements, and designing small commercial and multi-family residential developments.
