City of Waynesboro Ice Plant Renovation TE Grant
Posted on Jun 22, 2011 by Gina Jackson |
The project involved the renovation of an historic ice plant for the City of Waynesboro as one part of a multi-task Georgia D.O.T. Transportation Enhancement grant. The building is eligible to be included on the National Historic Register. AMTpc designed a renovation with a plan that retains the building’s original architectural character both on the exterior and interior as an ice plant. Original ice making equipment was incorporated in the building to retain its historicity. The design work was completed following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Design includes application of LEED Principles following the City of Waynesboro’s design intent of an energy efficient space. AMTpc obtained 100% funding for this project from the Department of Transportation (DOT). The building contains a transportation museum and functions as the City of Waynesboro Welcome Center.
