On May 17th at the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art Annual Meeting, David Matheny was honored with the M. Smith Griffith Volunteer of the Year Award.
His extraordinary dedication to volunteerism with the Georgia Museum of Art finds an outlet in fund-raising. In the past year, he has raised almost $100,000, much of which will be directed toward educational programming. Not content with just fund-raising, David has also contributed professionally to the museum. He was an architectural consultant for the museum’s 1996 building, and when the first plans for Phase II were being drawn, his expertise was invaluable. Since the 1990’s, David has been involved in all aspects of the many fundraising campaigns at the museum. He is currently an active member of the Board of Advisors and serves on the Public Affairs and Outreach committee.
