AMTpc provided civil site design work for the Federal Express (Fed Ex) Distribution Center located in Athens, GA, The site is a 21.3 tract located on Olympic Drive. This facility encompassed 12 acres of developed property including an acre core area of building and associated parking. The site involved the development of a storm facility capable of holding 10 acre feet of water. The detention pond included an innovative micro-pool for water quality. Because the site does not have a gravity flow sanitary sewer service, AMTpc deigned a lift station and force main utility that pumps wastewater up to Transtech Drive to an existing sewer main. The site design included the provisions to add sanitary sewer to the site without affecting any structures. AMTpc analyzed the site topography to balance the site. During construction, an excess of rock required design of the site and AMTpc was able to achieve this in one day which allowed the contractor to continue to meet the construction schedule.
