Town of Homer - Town Hall and Fire Station
Posted on Dec 20, 2010 by Gina Jackson |
The Town Hall was designed and built in August 2006 to house the offices of the Mayor and Utilities Departments as well as serve as the public meeting room for the Mayor & Commission hearings. This 3,000 SF, brick building consisted of a lobby, reception, meeting room, catering kitchen, office space, two vaults, secondary support facilities and also allowed for future expansion space.
The 12,000 SF Fire Station not only provided the town with a functional facility to house the firefighting equipment and meet the required standards of the fire department, but also provided the public a facility the community could use as well. The building was designed as a 24/7 staffed facility and included 2 equipment bays, an office, a bunkroom, a day room, a training room, a laundry, bath rooms, and storage areas. A storage area was also added in the attic space that could be expanded into office areas for future use.
The estimated cost of these projects was $2,250,000. Both of these projects were constructed in whole or in part using Georgia Department of Corrections
inmate labor.
